Please excuse my writing in english, but my italian isn't up to it... I thought you might like to know that I served a private 'usus antiquior' mass over the shrine of San Nicola in Bari said by a well known London priest in 2008; of course, he had brought his own missal...
I come to Puglia every summer because my parents have a house near Locorotondo. We go to mass at the basilica of San Martino in the incomparable Martina Franca. It would be wonderful if an old mass could be established every Sunday in that most beautiful town!

It's astonishing this news! You must know that since 2007 there was a group of faithfuls in Bari asking the prior of St. Nicholas to celebrate a mass in the extraordinary form, but they were called "fascists" and the prior himself said them "please, go to your pope if you want this latin mass, I ask for the Third Vatican Council!".
In San Martino I've tried to approach a priest in order to ask the celebration of my marriage in the e.f. but I was afraid of a rude answer and so I will celebrate the marriage and the following mass in Polignano a Mare (naturally in the e.f.)!
In San Martino anyway, I think that only the Cappellone of the Eucharisty is without mobile altar. Sadly in front of the main altar was build a new one and - horror! - it's made by pieces (mainly small columns) of the balaustra of the main altar that is now removed in the front part of the presbiterium. Other pieces of the balaustra have been used for the ambo!
What a pity for such a wonderful church! One day I will try to account all the disasters perpetrated in my region by crazy bishops and ignorant priests!

My priest friend didn't mention which missal he was going to use to the sacristan, he merely referred to 'the mass in latin'. It was a very moving occasion, a group of Russian Orthodox came into the crypt a little way through and were so moved that they stayed for the whole mass. I think they were equally amazed. It just shows that a wider restoration of the old mass would foster genuine ecumenism with the East.
Very interesting what you say about San Martino. I too am marrying this year and we were thinking of having it in the EF in Martina. Now I know the answer we would have got! (We are marrying in the Brompton Oratory...) Yes the adeguamento at San Martino is very unfortunate; the relaid floor looks like it belongs in a bathroom not a church. I think the balaustra date from the late 1800s, so not the worst loss. Perhaps they are hostile to the EF at San Martino because they are relatively conservative liturgically? The conservatives are often the most opposed to Tradition...

Ma perché invece di scrivere sciocchezze non se lo compra o non va a perder tempo su altri blog?
Per inciso su questo sito scrivo liberamente da due anni. Documento, do informazioni, ricostruisco storie e fatti. Il tutto gratuitamente. C'è chi apprezza e chi no, poco male, è un segno della libertà di espressione.
Pubblico qualche libro? Ok, lo fanno ormai cani e porci e non vedo perché una persona dotata di intelletto (almeno spero) non debba pubblicarli.
Metto le copertine sul mio sito? E dove le dovrei mettere, secondo lei?
Quanto a quella della Serpe fra gli ulivi, non è "in linea" col figurativismo classico anzitutto perché non è un'immagine d'arte sacra, in secondo luogo perché è a metà strada fra il disegno e l'opera d'arte, in terzo luogo perché non ho un preconcetto nei confronti dell'arte contemporanea, pur ritenendola in gran parte frutto di una insensata ribellione verso le forme classiche del passato.
Piuttosto credo e ho sempre creduto che l'arte contemporanea o qualsiasi forma di arte non strettamente e canonicamente figurativa debba rimanere fuori dal tempio, come affermato dai Sommi Pontefici fino al tempo di Pio XII in quanto tradisce la natura di Cristo quale Verbum et Imago.
Ciò detto, se ha da esprimere un pensiero sulla questione oggetto del post, lo faccia pure, se invece deve dir kazomares ci risparmi i suoi commenti puerili!
Finalmente si parla di cose belle: due matrimoni.

ohhh habemus serpe con coda di paglia...alleluia, e Papa o non Papa non è colpa mia se quella è una pessima opera ....che con l'arte e la bellezza non ha nulla a che fare, come al solito si dice bene e si razzola male. Amen
